The Orchid Society was born out of our love and passion for citrus. Although we are most known for super hop-forward beers like Star Ruby and our annual release of Spectrum, Alden’s true passion lies in the artistry and science behind creating new citrus-forward beers.

Innovation never pauses at Orchid. We’ve been talking for a while about inviting a few like-minded citrus beer enthusiasts to join us on this journey, so Alden could create very special limited-release beers for people who would appreciate them the most.

We really didn’t have time to develop this new concept until the depths of COVID, when we were looking for innovative ways to connect with our most beloved fans. As you may remember, during the early months of COVID, we faced the impossible decision of closing our brewhouse & taproom. That home on Flamevine gave birth to OIB—embryonic and rugged.

And as in so many challenging circumstances in life, there also come incredible silver linings. For us, that came in the form of a new home at Hogan Yards—a former citrus packing house with a storied heritage and legacy.

We’ve now been in the design and construction phase of reopening for the last 3½ years and are quickly arriving at a place where we’ll be able to sell packaged to-go beer again directly to fans.

We anticipate opening the new taproom component later in 2025, but in the meantime, this will be our very best way to connect—in person—at the new brewery.
